This chapter explores the transformative role of emerging technologies in shaping a more sustainable and resilient built environment. As global pressures for environmental responsibility and resource efficiency intensify, the construction industry is undergoing a digital revolution that enhances productivity, reduces environmental impact, and fosters collaboration across project stakeholders. The chapter delves into the theoretical and practical applications of digital construction technologies, including digital twins, smart systems, and automation and examines their role in advancing sustainable construction practices throughout the project lifecycle. Drawing on international survey data, the chapter provides insight into the current adoption levels of digital technologies, identifies constraints hindering wider implementation, and proposes mitigation strategies to overcome these barriers. It underscores that technology complements rather than replaces human input, especially in tasks that are hazardous, time-consuming, or labour-intensive. The growing relevance of digital innovation is reflected in industry-wide recognition, such as the UK’s annual Digital Construction Awards. Ultimately, the chapter offers a practical framework for prioritizing digital tools in construction, aligning technological adoption with sustainability goals.
