Real estate prices are influenced by the several underlying macroeconomic factors. Recent changes in the climate patterns - triggering heat waves and changes in precipitations can cause a surge in real estate prices among different regions. The present study examines the relationship between housing prices. We use quarterly housing price index data from Reserve bank of India staring from 2010 to 2022. Rainfall and temperature were used as proxy for climate factors. Fixed Effect Panel Regression used to estimate the impact of macro-economic determinants and climate factors on housing prices. The study focused on the 9 major Indian cities namely – Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur, and Kochi. Our results from the historical dataset show that temperature and rainfall have a significant impact on housing prices; with rise in temperature have significant negative impact on housing prices. Our findings have important implications for policymakers and real estate developers, as they provide insights into how climate factors can affect the demand for housing and ultimately influence housing prices among major cities in India.
