Quality of Work Life (QWL) is inevitable and necessary in construction industries. QWL is essential for developing and retaining employees, so more significant consideration must be given to the QWL of employees and deciding factors that affect the QWL. Therefore, this study is inclined towards finding out the factors affecting the QWL of professionals working in the Indian construction industry and the relative importance index (RII) of the factors is determined. The adopted method in this study is the quantitative method using a questionnaire survey. The structured questionnaires are distributed to the construction professionals working in the construction companies of Chennai city, and the final validated data is 724 responses. Further, data analysis is done using statistical methods. In descriptive statistics, frequency analysis is done, and the relative importance index test and sensitivity analysis are carried out in inferential statistics. The study shows that the QWL factors significantly influence the construction industry. Based on the RII analysis results, 12 constructs were highlighted with the RII index value. The sensitivity analysis results show that management, job satisfaction, remuneration and fringe benefits, and work commitment had the highest ranking rather than visibility, career growth, WFI - personal satisfaction, emotional intelligence, and physical exhaustion. The results of this study will be helpful to the target audience in enhancing their quality of working life. Also, it will benefit the organization to increase their productivity and policy making as this study identifies the affecting factors and their importance with the QWL. As this study has been conducted as a cross-sectional study, further research can be contributed as a longitudinal study and a qualitative method can be adopted to explore the construction professionals’ in-depth mindset. As QWL differs in different organizations, countries, and contexts, it can be adopted for future study.

摘要
