The Impact of a Near-Field Ground Motion on a T-Shaped Building
摘要
This research aims to better understand the behaviour of an irregular multi-story building with a T-shape plan when subjected to near-fault earthquake and analysing the torsional irregularity. A T-shaped building model was chosen for this because it has a line of symmetry in one direction. The finite-element based tool SAP2000 was used to create a nine-story building model. The model was analysed for near field earthquake by time history method, and the responses of storey displacement, base shear were determined along with check for torsional irregularity. The building under study was found to be torsionally irregular in the X direction. The peak ground velocity and acceleration of the earthquake time history were discovered to have a remarkable effect on the torsional behaviour of the T-shaped building.
