Terahertz (THz) wave exhibits important biological effects due to its unique interaction with biomacromolecules. THz wave can directly couple with biomolecules, produce non-thermal effect, and excite the nonlinear resonance of biomolecules, which can lead to the structure or conformational change of biomolecules, and even break the chemical bonds in biomolecules. For the suspension cells irradiated by terahertz wave, we built a set of simple terahertz wave flow irradiation cells, without the use of cell adhesive conditions, the cells will flow through this device, it is irradiated by terahertz wave. We used a polypropylene-based hose with high terahertz transmission as a carrier to irradiate suspension cells. Except for a few special absorption peaks of polypropylene, the other terahertz frequencies all have a transmission of 50%. Finally, we evaluated whether the device had any effect on the cells themselves. There was no significant change in the survival rate and proliferation rate of the suspended cells in the flowing state and the cells in the resting state, it can be used to explore the biological effects of terahertz wave on suspension cells.
