Palliative care plays a vital role in the holistic management of pediatric oncology patients. It aims to improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families by addressing physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs from diagnosis through end-of-life care or survivorship. Unlike adult palliative care, pediatric palliative care must account for developmental differences, unique family dynamics, and varied disease trajectories. Early integration of palliative care alongside curative or disease-directed therapies has been shown to reduce symptom burden, enhance communication, and support decision-making. This chapter highlights the importance of integrating palliative care into pediatric oncology practice, advocating for multidisciplinary models, early referral, and capacity building to ensure that all children with cancer receive compassionate, holistic care throughout their illness journey.
