The spatial environment plays a very important role in the productive output in design education as assessed by prior research and identifying creative space typologies and their functions. The study aims to determine the alignment between these identified typologies and the perspectives of design teachers within the case scenario, involving diverse groups of design teachers from various disciplines and experience levels as participants. The study employed cultural probe kit methods—such as diary entries and responses to contextualized questions—to collect insightful data. The subsequent analysis identified patterns and themes related to creative space types and functions, as well as participants’ perspectives, challenges, and preferences. An analytical insight mapping was carried out to evaluate whether the identified space types and functions resonate with the needs of the teachers to identify the typology’s relevance within the Indian context, thus developing recommendations to optimize creative spaces for effective design education within the Indian institute by comparing the alignment or divergence of results with the original research and outlining implications for enhancing the institute’s teaching and learning environment. Additionally, the paper identifies avenues for future research into the influence of cultural factors on shared creative spaces.

摘要
