Fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP)-ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) hybrid bar is a new form of reinforcement bar that consists of a central FRP bar, an external confining FRP tube, and a layer of UHPC filled in between. This novel FRP-UHPC hybrid bar exhibits better mechanical properties, including high load-carrying capacity and improved shear resistance capacity. In this study, the dynamic response of hybrid bars reinforced concrete (HBRC) column against the lateral impact was numerically investigated. The simulation results indicate that the HBRC column exhibits ductile behaviour against the lateral impact. Furthermore, parametric studies were carried out to investigate the influence of concrete strength and impact velocity on the lateral impact behaviour of HBRC columns.
