This research aimed to estimate the thrust force generated by a robotic fish equipped with two elongated undulating fins using 3-D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. The design of the elongated fins was inspired by the undulating motion of cuttlefish fins. By employing ANSYS Fluent, CFD simulations were conducted to analyze the hydrodynamic thrust produced by the fin-rays. The study also investigated the dynamics of the produced forces by analyzing the effects of kinematic parameters, such as undulating amplitude, frequency, and wavelength. The findings offer valuable insights into the hydrodynamics of undulating fin locomotion, making them pertinent for the design of bio-inspired underwater vehicles.

摘要
