Many tons of Posidonia oceanica are removed from the shores of the Mediterranean every year in order to maintain the quality and enjoyment of the beaches. Most of this waste is disposed of in landfills, where it is expensive to remove. Therefore, in this chapter, the chemical composition of P. oceanica and its potential applications in many fields will be examined and compared with other non-wood raw materials. These wastes can be blended with polymers to form composites consisting of natural fibers and polymers with outstanding properties. Compared to synthetic fibers, Posidonia fibers are an inexpensive, renewable, environmentally friendly, and suitable source for reinforcing polymer compounds.
