In response to the serious sand production, low formation pressure coefficient, severe leakage, large borehole, and easy collapse of the reservoir in the construction of Nanpu No. 1 Gas Storage, the construction difficulty and low success rate of the open-hole gravel filling sand control completion technology have been studied. Designed a three-level pre-pack screen with outer sheath sand control, gravel filling layer sand prevent, and base pipe sand blocking; The preferred combination for filling gravel is 30–50 mesh, with a filling layer thickness of 16 mm and a base pipe sand blocking accuracy of 90 μm; The material adopts high-strength anti-corrosion materials, forming a long-term and high-strength sand control completion technology for horizontal wells in gas storage facilities. This technology has been applied in 7 wells of Nanpu No. 1 gas storage, with a 100% success rate in construction. The earliest implemented wells have gone through three injection and production cycles so far, with a maximum daily gas injection volume of 1.18 million m3 and a maximum daily gas production volume of 0.4 million m3. Production is normal and there is no sand production display. Practice has shown that this technology meets the requirements for sand control and completion of horizontal wells in Nanpu No. 1 gas storage, providing technical support for the long-term safe operation of horizontal wells in sandstone gas storage.
