Analyzing the Potential of Artificial Meat Production as a Sustainable Solution to Decarbonization

Artificial meat production is a reliable and efficient way of producing meat, which could contribute to global food security by reducing dependency on traditional livestock farming as it obviates the slaughtering and raising of animals for a daily diet. This involves growing meat in a controlled lab environment, offering numerous benefits such as reduced exposure to pesticides and bacteria, environmental sustainability, addressing ethical, cultural concerns, and a rise in global demand for protein rich food. The current state of artificial meat production procedures involves various methodologies like tissue engineering, 3D/4D bioprinting, biophotonics, and cloning. The intersection of biotechnology and artificial intelligence (AI) has brought about transformative advancements in the production of artificial meat. Biotechnological methods provide the foundation for cellular agriculture, while AI enhances the precision, speed, and scalability of the production process and allows for the creation of unique and innovative meat alternatives. Between 2024 and 2031, substantial growth is anticipated in the artificial meat market, driven by strategic insights and innovative approaches. The article highlights the favorable results achieved through various projects in different regions, demonstrating the potential of cultured meat production to effectively adapt and bring about beneficial changes. Further, the challenges and future perspectives associated with artificial meat production have also been discussed.
