This concluding chapter provides a comparative summary of the six case studies under the five challenges of mixed-use megaprojects. This leads to the identification of three fundamental urban renewal principles that offer guidance for future MMPs: (1) Reconciliation of competitive and community goals, which recognizes accessibility, affordability, and diversity as essential elements for supporting a robust knowledge-based economy and fostering a sense of community and identity; (2) Clear and consistent government leadership that aligns with transparent, accountable and standardized statutory planning frameworks; and (3) Strategic infrastructure coordination that addresses city-scale issues identified at the project’s inception and is developed in reference to strategic planning and policy documents. These principles are not intended as specific project objectives; rather, they aim to establish higher-order values that help lay the groundwork for achieving broader city-scale benefits under locally developed objectives. Consequently, MMPs are enabled to effectively address the specific infrastructural and social challenges facing the host city.
