Nanoencapsulation Techniques for Controlled Release of Agrochemicals

Agrochemicals are indispensable in contemporary agriculture to guarantee optimal crop productivity and mitigate the risks of pests and diseases. Nevertheless, conventional application techniques consistently result in inefficiencies, environmental pollution, and health hazards due to these chemicals’ unregulated release and excessive use. Nanoencapsulation has become an up-and-coming technology to tackle these difficulties by allowing the regulated release of agricultural chemicals, thus improving their effectiveness, decreasing their environmental footprint, and minimising toxicity to humans. The controlled release of agrochemicals is investigated in this chapter by examining several nanoencapsulation techniques, such as polymeric nanoparticles, liposomes, nanoemulsions, and dendrimers. We stress the need to thoroughly evaluate each method, the specific materials employed, and their inherent capacity to enhance agrochemicals’ stability, bioavailability, and targeted delivery. Furthermore, this chapter addresses recent progress, obstacles in widespread application, regulatory factors, and prospects in nanotechnology in agriculture. This chapter intends to provide a comprehensive understanding of nanoencapsulation techniques to offer valuable insights into the potential of nanotechnology to transform the use of agrochemicals for sustainable agriculture.
