The surface of a boiler is easily to be damaged under the influence of internal substance for a long time, which will lead to the production accident. The nondestructive examination method is used to protecting the surface of the boiler. The efficiency is lower of the traditional method, which is decided by a man who observed the images providing by the camera, and result is greatly influenced by the artificial experience. With the rapid development of three-dimension scanning technology, it can accurately scan and judge the location and extent of the damage. In this paper, a laser three-dimension scanner is used to obtain the damaged data of the boiler accurately. The three-dimension data of the location and the damage area of the damage are calculated, which provides the basic data to repair the damage by the metal 3D printing technology. The detection efficiency of the three-dimension scanning technology is improved greatly compared with the traditional artificial method. The method can prolong the service life of the boiler, save the manpower cost, improve the detection efficiency, and practice the concept of green manufacturing.
