The law gives protection against air pollution, but clean energy and greenery give this protection also. Resources like clean energy and greenery can amplify the function that each has for the city. When they do, they also amplify what they can mean for protecting the city against air pollution during fog. This results in a more balanced protection than by law only, and coming from the allocation of resources, or the economy in other words. Typically, economic activities are viewed as threats to health due to their negative side effects, such as air pollution. However, these activities can also have positive side effects. Both clean energy initiatives and the expansion of green spaces contribute to cleaner air. When these activities are combined, they enhance each other’s positive impacts and help mitigate pollution more effectively. Fostering coalitions between clean energy, greenery, and public health can create a resilient urban environment. This approach enables city administrators to make balanced decisions that consider both economic and health benefits, ultimately promoting a sustainable and healthy urban future. This chapter examines the economic, financial, and legal challenges of governance in addressing air pollution, particularly the division of responsibilities among different government departments. It presents case studies that illustrate how multifunctional solutions can address environmental issues through the interplay of water, soil, nature, and more.
