Digital Payment: An Analysis of Demographic Facets of Rural Population

Cashless economy is the mantra of the all developing economy across the globe. In the light of the financial inclusion and digital revolution, government encouraging the usage of digital payment system. In this regard, one should understand the complexity of fabrication of the economy not only urban but also the rural population. This study encompasses the rural demographics which are vital in facets of the digital payment system. The adoption of digital payment system in influenced by the facets viz., trust, access, awareness and convenience coupled by age, gender, education and occupational status. This study evolves the survey of primary data (328 respondents), and utilization of tools viz., Kruskal Wallis test, structural equation model and mediation analysis. The major finding includes establishment of mediation relationship between adoption and facets of digital payment system. The study shows implication towards business, and government agencies in the developing appropriate measures and product offering.
