Analysis of Working Postures with the Work Performance of Visual Inspection Workers in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry by Using RULA and REBA

This study uses ergonomic techniques such as the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) and the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) to determine the required part of the body to be assessed. Posture in work and job performance was adopted while working in the visual inspection work by visual inspectors for this study. An error study was used to assess employee performance at work. In this study, the work performance of visual inspection workers in the manufacturing business was measured by investigating several postures, such as standing, sitting, and sit-stand postures, and three work shifts which include A shift, B shift, and C Shift. The study’s sample size comprised ten individuals. The REBA method was utilized to evaluate standing, and sit-stand postures, while the RULA approach was employed for sitting postures. The findings showed that employees who adopted sitting and standing positions were likelier to have lower work performance and a higher risk of musculoskeletal issues. The study concludes that, when comparing sit-stand posture to standing and sitting postures for visual inspection workers in the automotive manufacturing industry, employees adopting this posture have a lower risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders and are observed higher productive. This is dependent on figuring out work posture using the RULA and REBA methods. Therefore, to increase work performance and promote health and well-being for all visual inspection personnel, the sit-stand posture can be implemented in the visual inspection workplace in the future.
