This chapter discusses several issues of the energy sector in Vietnam, including energy structure, fossil fuel, and renewable energy for sustainable development. The demand for energy is growing rapidly in recent years and will continue to increase until 2050. The importance of energy security to socialeconomic development and the requirement of environmental protection are the key factors of the development of renewable and sustainable energy sources.
