This chapter presents the framework for DI laid out in a seminal work by Carol (Tomlinson, 2014). I argue that although Tomlinson’s framework offers clarity and utility for the classroom teacher, certain gaps warrant attention. I provide a comprehensive definition of DI, clarifying its essence and dispelling misconceptions that could hinder its effective implementation. I provide a definition of student diversity that positions DI as a framework for all students, not just a select few.

摘要

This chapter presents the framework for DI laid out in a seminal work by Carol (Tomlinson, 2014). I argue that although Tomlinson’s framework offers clarity and utility for the classroom teacher, certain gaps warrant attention. I provide a comprehensive definition of DI, clarifying its essence and dispelling misconceptions that could hinder its effective implementation. I provide a definition of student diversity that positions DI as a framework for all students, not just a select few.
