Collaborative Reading: Building Critical and Constructive Engagement with Set Course Texts
摘要
Ensuring students engage in the reading of academic texts is difficult, leading to many students avoiding or skim-reading important social work concepts and theories. This chapter outlines a process called “collaborative reading” that provides a rich basis for student learning. Collaborative reading involves students reading aloud together and discussing sections of the core texts within tutorials. Tutors on the run will find collaborative reading an easy but deeply engaging way to generate discussion, debate, and jointly considering critical topics.
