Using Games to Get Students Thinking and Talking: Human Rights Scrabble

This chapter describes a simple and fun word game activity that draws upon aspects of the popular board game Scrabble. Designed to foster discussion and awareness of human rights, the activity in this chapter requires minimal resources and can be used in large, lecture hall-sized groups, in small tutorials, in person, and online. This chapter discusses the benefits of learning through play and using competitive low-stakes activities to foster the development of soft skills and a sense of connection between students.
