Teaching Using Aboriginal Pedagogies in the University Curriculum
摘要
This chapter demonstrates the development of Aboriginal content in a tutorial activity through the cultural frameworks of Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing, and draws upon Callaghan and Gordon’s model of the 6 L’s: Lore, Love, Look and Listen, Learn, and Lead. Teaching Aboriginal content and using cultural frameworks in social work is important as it is a respectful and culturally appropriate means to learning. This grants graduates the opportunity to develop cultural responsiveness and allyship. Since delivering this tutorial activity with social work students, it was evident through verbal feedback that students found this means of learning to be a valuable experience. Further, it is critical to address considerations in delivering Aboriginal content by non-Aboriginal academic staff and the challenges that may be associated with this.
