Professor Duke was kind enough to open the heavy door for me to enter the simulation and gaming world. My personal journey regarding simulation and gaming started about 40 years ago when I happened to realize how powerful simulations could be for transformation of organizations. The metaphors created by simulation enabled me to transform a stagnant university into a high-performance organization. Through extensive surveys, I found that policy exercise could be most effective for organizational transformation through double-loop learning. In 1997, Professor Duke gave me a rare opportunity to acquire the tacit knowledge about developing policy exercises. I spent four months at the University of Michigan as a visiting professor and created a policy exercise with his graduate students. This made it possible for me to start creating policy exercise for METI (the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), large Japanese companies, and local authorities.

摘要
