Teacher Effectiveness and Quality Assessment: Perspectives from Native Persian Teachers
摘要
With their effective performance, qualified teachers play a significant role in enhancing the quality of learning in any educational context. Continued teacher quality assessment not only contributes to the success of the curriculum but also is the key to teacher professional development as the assessment outcome can inform those areas of teacher education for which teachers require professionalism. Against this backdrop, the aim of this chapter is to examine how Persian-speaking teachers in the international centers for teaching Persian to non-Persian speakers in Iran assess the quality of their teaching in five dimensions: the teacher as a person, classroom management and discipline, planning and organizing instruction, implementing instruction, and monitoring learner progress and potential. Results, gained from the analysis of interview and questionnaire data, indicate that the teachers had a positive assessment of different features of their teaching quality and evaluated their teaching as effective.
