The Asteraceae family includes over 200 species of annual or perennial herbs in the genus Bidens. Its species are found all over the world. Numerous indigenous medicinal systems make use of certain species of Bidens. For instance, Bidens pilosa, B. humilis, B. biternata, B. segetum, B. cernua, B. frondosa, and B. tripartita are used for their antioxidant properties; B. pilosa, B. alba, B. biternata, and B. bippinata are used for their anticancer properties. This chapter provides current information on the phytochemical and pharmacological uses of the genus Bidens regarding their antioxidant and anticancer properties from various research works. It also offers preliminary data and recommendations for future fundamental and clinical research in this area. The majority of the scientific data examined for this analysis gives credence to the possibility of using the genus Bidens to cure aging-related conditions such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, and other conditions.
