Additive Manufacturing Technologies for Polymer Nanocomposites
摘要
The advancement and application of Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies, particularly 3D and 4D printing, signify a transformative period in manufacturing and product development. Additive manufacturing (3D printing) has become integral to the aerospace, automotive, and healthcare sectors, enabling complex designs, personalization, and sustainability. The capability for rapid prototyping, customization, and the production of complex geometries, which traditional manufacturing methods struggle to achieve efficiently, is the foremost and core benefit of AM technology. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the advancements in 3D, 4D, and 5D printing technologies, highlighting their transformative impact on various industries. In this regard, PolyJet printing, known for its precision and speed, produces high-detail objects using UV-hardened polymers. However, material costs remain a limitation. 4D printing introduces time as a dimension, allowing shape changes in response to environmental cues. Applications span biomedicine, aerospace, and dental restorations. 5D printing combines additive and subtractive methods, promising intricate designs for jewellery, automotive parts, and food packaging. Overall, these technologies revolutionize manufacturing processes.
