One of the chief goals of an educator is to facilitate deep engagement of students in teaching–learning activities. The state of flow is an experience that follows undeterred attention and accompanies activities that generate a pleasurable experience. This chapter relates the concept of flow to the functioning of the education system and identifies the conditions required to achieve a flow state, and details the strategies to induce it in an educational environment. Additionally, student engagement can be boosted by providing support, introducing intrinsic motivation, minimising distractions, encouraging choices, and providing feedback.
