Promoting Positive Emotions Through Yogic Lifestyle
摘要
Positive emotions facilitate engagement in studies and reduce boredom, aggressive behaviour, and suicidal tendencies. Lifestyle activities have also emerged as an important predictor for several domains of well-being. Against this backdrop, the Yogic lifestyle emerges to be of great significance in promoting positive emotions and yielding several associated benefits. This chapter reports an empirical study of the impact of Yogic lifestyle intervention on a cluster of positive emotions in a sample of school-going Indian adolescents. The participants were allocated to two groups- a control group and an intervention group. The intervention group participants, receiving the Yogic lifestyle intervention program through a psycho-education module, reported improvement in hope, optimism, and empathy. The results indicate the potential for changes in lifestyle behaviours and several implications for school education.
