Indian Migration to Indonesia
摘要
In this chapter, we discuss the socio-cultural dynamics and history of Indian migration to Indonesia, highlighting the qualitative aspects of this migration despite its small scale. The integration of the Indian community in Indonesia is underpinned by shared cultural histories, bilateral trade relations, and socio-economic cooperation due to the historically peaceful assimilation of Indian migrants over centuries. We review demographic distribution, occupations, religious beliefs, and the overall socio-economic and political status of Indians in Indonesia to pin down the determinants of stability and quality of this Indianization.
