This study aims to explore the persecution experiences of Rohingya refugees in Myanmar, the process and experience of migration, and the existing state of affairs of these refugees residing in New Delhi, India. An exploratory study was carried out with Rohingya migrants living in the refugee camps of Kalindi-Kunj and Shahin-Baugh, New Delhi. In-depth interviews with 30 Rohingya migrants were conducted and five key informants, including a community representative, two NGO officials, a social activist, and a healthcare provider were also interviewed. The result showed that there is a feeling of fear of deportation among Rohingya refugees living in India, and livelihood and education are also at stake. India’s lack of dedicated refugee legislation, despite a longstanding tradition of hosting refugees, presents numerous obstacles and hardships for Rohingya refugees residing in the country. This article concludes by emphasizing the urgent need for India to enhance its support and protection measures for the Rohingya community.
