Using the 9R framework—Recycle, Remanufacture, Reuse, Refuse, Rethink, Reduce, Repair, Refurbish, and Repurpose—it examines case studies of food loss reduction initiatives and innovative e-commerce platforms. Key examples include Mizkan Group, TABETE’s surplus food-sharing app, and Kuradashi’s social good marketplace. These initiatives demonstrate how technology, policy reform, and collaborative efforts can operationalize CE principles, reducing waste while generating economic and social value. Challenges such as regulatory barriers, market dynamics, and consumer behavior are addressed through innovation, education, and cultural alignment, particularly leveraging Japan’s “mottainai” ethos. The chapter concludes that scaling CE practices globally, driven by partnerships and advanced technologies, offers a pathway to a sustainable, equitable food system that balances ecological, economic, and social priorities.
