KREEShak: Low Cost, Versatile 3-Wheeler for the Terrace Farmers of the Himalayan Region

For small- and medium-scale farmers, any methods or technologies that might lessen issues such as global warming, new and resilient pests and diseases, loss of soil, etc. can have a significant influence on their labor and income. However, it is essential to remember that as the environment, elevation, climate, economic levels, and cultural norms vary, so do the needs of farmers. Due to this, these farmers’ demands are distinct and may or may not require the same answer. Therefore, it is essential to remember that the products and solutions need to be adaptable enough to be used across cultures and geographies. This essay makes an attempt to examine one of the numerous options accessible for a particular kind of agriculture practiced in the mountainous regions of Southern Asia and Africa at medium to high altitudes. The lower and middle Himalayan areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are included in the research area. Terrace farming, which is much more labor-intensive than other types of commercial and sustenance agriculture because it is prohibited from using heavy machinery on the delicate mountain slopes, is the type of agriculture that has been practiced in those areas for the longest. By serving as a workhorse for farmers who are a little less financially secure, a type of versatile and robust, three-wheeled carrier can assist to address a lot of issues. This paper aims to examine the potential effects of such a product on farmers’ life as well as to develop a potential concept for application. The design scope generated was a slim bike looking three-wheel drive product which can assist farmers in their agricultural operation in hills. This is also useful as a bike for their general use without attachment.
