Risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders Among Indian Sugarcane Harvesters with Respect to Time Motion Study
摘要
The manual mode of harvesting in farming results in increase in the risk of overuse injuries and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). This study was conducted on sugarcane harvesters (n = 50) from South Gujarat, India, to analyze the risk of MSDs using time motion study and Ergonomic Assessment Tool (REBA). With respect to time motion study and activities performed, there are higher chances of overuse injury in case of cutting and loading over the truck, as the exposure rates are above the Time-Weighted Average (TWA) value. All the REBA scores are under high risk of MSDs ranging from 10 to 13. Moreover, the weighted average of REBA elements showed higher risk of MSDs around the lower arm, upper arm, trunk, and the wrist area. Based upon the results, cutting tools may be modified and proper work-rest cycle may be included.
