Healthcare workers are facing occupational stress, low sleep quality, and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) over the years. This study aims to identify MSD and sleep quality of healthcare workers by using NMQ and PSQI. Initially, a field study is done in a large hospital in mid-Kerala and covered the departments reception, nursing station, laboratory, and pharmacy. Next, a questionnaire survey was done, and 71 responses were obtained. Various tasks were analyzed in departments using RULA tool in CATIA V5 software. It is found that ergonomic redesign required for transferring patients from wheelchairs to beds. The best design is selected by the AHP process, then modeled in the human builder module of CATIA software, and ergonomically analyzed. The ergonomically redesigned patient handling device can improve the health and safety of those healthcare workers.
