Metatranscriptomics: To Analyze Pattern of Gene Expression and Functional Activities of the Endophytic Community
摘要
Metatranscriptomics has emerged as a powerful tool for exploring the diversity, dynamics, and functions of endophytic microbial communities within plant ecosystems. This chapter provides an overview of metatranscriptomics and its application in studying endophytes. Metatranscriptomic analysis enables comprehensive characterization of endophytic communities at the transcriptional level, shedding light on their taxonomic classification, gene expression profiles, functional activities, and interactions with host plants. By elucidating the molecular dialogues and signaling pathways involved in host-microbe interactions, metatranscriptomics facilitates understanding of mechanisms underlying plant growth promotion, disease suppression, and colonization by microbes. Furthermore, metatranscriptomics offer insights into the ecological dynamics and evolutionary processes shaping endophytic communities, as well as their potential biotechnological applications in agriculture. Through comparative metatranscriptomic analyses, gene expression patterns can be identified, distinguishing habitats with and without endophytes. This chapter highlights the significance of metatranscriptomics in advancing our understanding of endophytic communities and their roles in plant health, ecosystem functioning, and agricultural sustainability.
