It examines the founding intentions of those men and women who began what became the Teaching Orders of Religious who established that tradition which today’s Catholic schools have inherited. It examines the mission to end ‘aspirational poverty’ and to open the eyes of the young to ‘the better and the greater’. It examines the transition from an anthropology shaped by a soteriological algorithm to one formed by Christian Humanism.
