This chapter outlines the several significant contextual socio-cultural, anthropological and religious shifts which have initiated and which continue to drive the search for new meanings for today’s Catholic school. It examines the three gaping wounds in the communal social soul of the post-war Western world. It is these three wounds in the social psyche which continue to defy resolution but which continue to cry out for it. The way forward is essentially linked to the formation of a set of foundational Meanings which can guide the way forward. The heart of these healing Meanings is the growing awareness of universal humanity, an awareness which unites rather than divides. In this light, the hallmarks of the Catholic school of the future are proposed.
