Characterization of an Anechoic Chamber for Conducting Aeroacoustic Experiments at IIT Kanpur
摘要
The Jet Acoustics and Flow Control (JAFC) Laboratory is a mixed-use facility commissioned at IIT Kanpur. For jet acoustics study, the laboratory contains an open jet facility where nozzles of varying diameters can be mounted, which is located inside an anechoic chamber. The paper presents an overview of the calibration results of this jet acoustics facility: both the acoustics and aerodynamic characterizations are presented for a Mach 0.3 jet. The acoustics measurements were performed using free-field microphones, while the aerodynamic characterization used a hotwire anemometer. These benchmark experiments for the Mach 0.3 jet match with the results reported in the literature. The calibration results highlight the lower cut-off frequency of the open jet facility to be 500 Hz.
