Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is a collaborative approach that unites people, systems, business structures, and practices to reduce waste and enhance sustainability in construction projects. IPD aims to improve schedule, quality, cost, health, and safety while promoting positive collaboration based on mutual respect and trust. Despite the abundance of literature on IPD, there has yet to be a comprehensive analysis of the interactions between factors and their implementation. This study aimed to fill that gap by identifying the interactions between factors that hinder the implementation of IPD through five pilot semi-structured interviews with professionals in the New Zealand construction industry. The interviews covered a range of themes, including Legal, Financial, Technological, Cultural/Organisational, Collaboration and Communication, and Governmental/Political factors. The data was analysed using manual coding, and the interactions between the factors were visualised using VENSIM software. This research provides valuable insights into the interactions between critical factors and IPD, aiding researchers and industry practitioners in implementing sustainable construction practices globally.
