This research investigates the challenges and potential solutions for construction waste management in New Zealand, focusing on stakeholder perspectives and sustainable practices. The study identifies key barriers, including regulatory and compliance issues, infrastructure limitations, and resistance to change, which hinder effective waste management in the construction industry. Through systematic literature review (SLR) and semi-structured interviews with industry professionals, the research highlights the critical role of collaboration, financial incentives, and technological advancements in overcoming these challenges. Public-private partnerships (PPPs) are emphasised as essential for expanding recycling infrastructure, while government policies and certifications are identified as key drivers for encouraging sustainable practices. The study also underscores the importance of public awareness campaigns and workforce training to foster a culture of sustainability within the industry. The findings suggest that a comprehensive approach, integrating stakeholder collaboration, policy support, technological innovation, and education, is vital for advancing sustainable construction waste management in New Zealand. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on sustainable development by offering practical recommendations that can help reduce the environmental impact of the construction sector and promote long-term sustainability.
