The construction industry plays a vital role in the economic development of a nation. Further, sustainability in construction makes the planet more sustainable, as warranted by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Moreover, the existing processes require a transformational change to be sustainable. Still, efforts must be made to change over time due to the pressing needs of profitability and growth of the organization. While only some forward-looking organizations align with sustainability, the pace of implementation could be faster with examples of how construction operations can be made sustainable from a developing country’s perspective. Therefore, a study is conducted to identify the sustainable construction practices adopted by the construction companies, which is the aim of the study. As secondary data, business reports are collected from two Indian international construction company websites, and content analysis is performed to gather information on the sustainable practices of construction companies, as reported. The results indicate that material selection and replacement are among companies’ most common approaches, followed by using renewable and green energy for day-to-day construction operations. The study is beneficial for construction professionals as a guide for starting sustainable construction practices. It helps researchers take further research toward making the construction industry report sustainability.

摘要
