The UK government is actively promoting the adoption of Offsite Construction (OSC) to address housing shortages, enhance sustainability, and achieve net-zero carbon targets. Despite these efforts, OSC usage remains alarmingly low. This qualitative study identifies limited awareness as a key barrier to broader adoption. Through interviews with twelve experienced professionals in the UK Construction Industry (UKCI) and subsequent thematic analysis, the study found significant variation in awareness and knowledge levels regarding OSC. Although awareness exists, it remains low among potential end-users. While construction professionals exhibit higher awareness, the actual understanding and adoption of OSC among end-users are notably limited. This awareness gap among stakeholders likely contributes to the slow uptake of OSC. The study proposes targeted strategies to bridge this gap and increase OSC adoption, using gap analysis to illustrate key findings. These recommendations provide valuable insights for academic research and offer practical guidance for the construction industry, businesses, and policymakers seeking to expand OSC adoption, both in the UK and internationally.
