Sparse Imaging in Marine Surveillance Radar for Sea Clutter Suppression

To address the challenges of insufficient radar resolution and strong sea clutter interference in marine target detection applications of marine surveillance radar, this paper first constructs a sparse signal model for marine surveillance radar imaging. A radar sparse imaging algorithm based on the complex Smoothed L0 Norm is then proposed, enabling sparse reconstruction of complex radar images. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly improves the overall quality of radar images, achieving more than a twofold improvement in super-resolution and over 20 dB enhancement in PSLR and ISLR metrics. Additionally, it effectively reduces the radar image’s miss detection rate and false alarm rate, providing technical support for target detection and recognition under sea clutter conditions.
