One of the most important technical issues of recent pneumatic conveying technology development is the new approach for better modelling of fine powder flow performance. This research adopted an newly developed apparatus for aerated fine powder to obtain the rheological properties. Three typical fine powder materials were selected to obtain the initial yield stress and the viscous characteristics under various aeration levels. Results indicated that aerated fine powders general exhibit yield power-law rheological correlation. Subsequently, empirical correlations between the yield power-law correlations and the aeration parameters were established. The outcome of this research can be directly used for fluidised dense phase pneumatic conveying system design.
