This paper reviews the performance characteristics of high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) and plasma spraying (PS) technologies, as well as the development history and current status of Fe-based amorphous coatings prepared using thermal spray technology. The superior properties of amorphous alloy coatings, such as high hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, are discussed. The formation mechanisms of new Fe-based amorphous coatings are studied, and the key factors in preparing high-quality amorphous alloy coatings using HVOF technology are explored. The future development trends of Fe-based amorphous alloy coatings prepared by thermal spray technology are also forecasted.
