Blockchain-Based Secure Healthcare System

The. Internet of things (IoT) is widely used in various sectors such as smart health care, smart transportation, smart agriculture, and smart education. In healthcare domain, IoT technology is considered to be an important aspect due to its services like use of wearable healthcare devices, remote monitoring of patients, storing medical data, easy diagnosis of patient’s health, sharing of medical data over network, and correct diagnosis of patient health. The major requirement in healthcare sector is timely fetching of previous data and real-time data collected from devices which must be shared to doctors for providing correct disease diagnosis and medical prescriptions based on this information. But there are certain limitations of using IoT for health care such as restriction of memory storage, late synchronization of data collected from IoT devices, security, and privacy risk to shared data. In addition to this, there are chances of data leakage, privacy breach, and data manipulation due to presence of patient’s sensitive information. Blockchain technology aims to provide flexible solution for storing of sensitive information and secure transfer of medical data over network. Blockchain technology has emerged to provide possible remedies for such security breaches to sense patient parameters which must be shared to doctors for providing timely treatments, correct disease diagnosis, and medical prescriptions. Blockchain technology is distributed ledger which efficiently manages intelligent transaction and ensures data security. The paper aims to improve the functionality of medical health care with effective integration of IoT devices and blockchain technology over network. Thus, we reach a conclusion that blockchain technology offers secure, safe, and efficient approach for resolving healthcare challenges and issues related to IoT devices.
