Nanomaterials and Wastewater Treatment: A Step Towards Sustainable Future
摘要
Pure water is the basic need of all living organisms. But nowadays, it has become a challenge to get good quality water, also growing need and scarcity of water makes waste water treatment a talked about issue in the field of applied sciences. Presently, some techniques for the primary waste water treatment although are in use but use of nanomaterials (NMs) in this field has attracted the attention. A high efficiency, low-cost, and sustainable of waste water treatment way is the need of the hour. NMs having various important properties such as catalysis, adsorption, greater surface area, and many more make them a probable solution. Many NMs are being explored for the removal of contaminants from waste water. Heavy metals are yet another matter of concern when it comes to contamination of water. Various NMs and assisted techniques are also being used for the purpose of their removal. It is also a favourable way when it comes to energy conservation, environmental remediation and creation of an ecofriendly environment which again is in line with the blooming concept of green technology. Various recyclable nanoparticles their sustainable use and future prospects are an important and fast-growing domain of research and application. The present study deals with the concrete and collected idea of NMs in the field of waste water treatment and their future prospects also taking into account the environmental sustainability. Wastewater treatment presents a pressing global challenge as population growth and industrialization exacerbate water pollution. In recent years, nanotechnology has emerged as a promising avenue for addressing this issue, offering innovative solutions through the application of NMs in wastewater treatment processes. This review explores the latest advancements in utilizing NMs for wastewater treatment, highlighting their efficacy, mechanisms of action, and potential environmental impacts. Additionally, the article discusses the role of nanotechnology in advancing towards a sustainable future by improving water quality and resource recovery.
