Efficient Utilization of Water Using the Internet of Things and Blockchain Technology
摘要
Water is essential for every living thing in the universe. The article proposes a decentralized system designed to manage water resource information across every stage of the process, “supply-use-consumption-discharge” using blockchain technology. The system enhances traditional methods of storing water data and offers an effective solution to establish trust among stakeholders involved in water resource management. It ensures data security, mitigating risks associated with central institutions’ vulnerabilities to disruptions caused by routine operations. Specifically, blockchain technology encrypts monitoring and business data, transmitted via a peer-to-peer network. Shifting from centralized management to distributed management also delegates some responsibilities to each node. This facilitates rapid decision-making and execution upon detecting issues, improving the efficiency of information dissemination and management. Furthermore, two blockchain-driven solutions for water resource management are delineated. This method simplifies the issuance and supervision of water abstraction permits, ensuring the security and authenticity of license data. Additionally, it establishes a reliable system for monitoring water quality, ensuring the precision of data, pinpointing areas with inadequate water quality, assigning responsibility, and protecting the safety of residents’ water supply.
