The Lu’an mining area is in the southeastern part of Shanxi Province, at the western foot of the Taihang Mountains in the Changzhi Basin. The Lu’an Mining Bureau’s affiliated mines primarily extract the No. 3 coal seam in the eastern part of the Qinshui coalfield. The seam is stable with a thickness ranging from 5.61 to 7.23 m, averaging 6.42 m. It dips at an angle of 3–5°, locally up to 10°, and includes 1–3 layers of parting. The coal is medium-hard with a hardness coefficient of 1.0–3.0. The roof is stable, composed of sandstone, while the floor consists of argillaceous shale.
